Development Projects
The Madagascar Oil blocks contain two field areas that have been the subject of extensive investigation over the years.
The Tsimiroro Field in Block 3104 is projected to be a steam flood development project. Specific work in 2007, 2008 and 2009 has defined a significant field and demonstrated a clear capability to produce the oil utilizing proven conventional steam flood techniques.
The Bemolanga Field in Block 3102 is a bitumen mining project, and has been studied in detail by several companies over the years. Madagascar Oil work since 2005 has determined that the bitumen contained in the field has generally more favorable characteristics than Canadian bitumen deposits and that the bitumen content and extraction technique needs to be further defined as a next step to committing to a pilot mining project.
